The 2nd Oman Neurology Conference
The second Oman Neurology conference
organized by the oman neurology society and the oman epilepsy society in
cooperation with Nizwa hospital discussed eleven various papers, dealing with
neurological diseases and the development of neurology management with large
participation from specialists in the field.
The conference, held at the Nizwa Inter city hotel,
included three scientific sessions, discussed a number of scientific papers in
neurology and various neurological diseases.
The first session, under the title
"headaches and epilepsy", discussed five papers on diagnosis, treatment
of epilepsy and the challenges and difficulties. facing medical and surgical
treatment methods, in addition to addressing headache diseases and methods of
treatment among children and adults, and with the advancements and modern
treatment methods in this field
The second session dealt with three working papers
on multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating diseases diagnosis, methods of
treatment and addressed these disorders in children. The last third session "neurological
disorders" presented three topics discussing neuromuscular ( myopathies) diseases
in oman and their types, comparing their spread with different countries of the
world, and discussed common movements disorders, their ways of diagnosis and
treatment.
The conference discussed also
neurological complications of coronavirus such as strokes and others
Dr. Ahmed bin Saif Al-Qasabi, consultant
neurologist, movement disorders specialist and a member of the organizing
committee of the conference, said: the organization of the conference in Nizwa came
to provide the opportunity for health care staff in nearby provinces to increase and gain more knowledge
of common neurological diseases, which enhances the speed of diagnosis and care
provided by primary care physicians, and to transfer them to a specialized
hospitals when necessary.
